**** (00:00:42) - Hello and welcome back to another episode of A Soulful Mom's Wisdom. On this week's episode, we are at the end of the month, y'all, so you know what that means. What inspired you this month? That is our special segment of the month where we are breaking it down into two sections. First, we are sharing one quote from this month that resonated with you, one of our value listeners from the live African community. Hey y'all. And then lastly, we are sharing nothing other than a coffee break, y'all know. But for those of you who don't, coffee breaks are the place where I escape and take a mental health break.

**** (00:01:37) - I am so grateful for them and I love giving them a shout out when I come across a really good one. All right, so without further ado, let's get it started. So first off, what was our theme for this month? Personal growth. Personal growth for so many reasons. Some that may be obvious and not so obvious, was chosen because it is really, in my opinion, the core of the holistic wellness journey. It really just takes us back to the core of who we are in so many other things. But I think tapping into personal growth really propels us along our holistic wellness journey for so many reasons. And you'll have to listen to our episodes this month to find out why. So what were the quotes that we shared this month before we share the quotes of this month? So the first quote was by Michelle Obama. There's a power in allowing yourself to be known and heard in owning your unique story and using your authentic voice, and there's a grace in being willing to know in hear others.

**** (00:02:47) - This, for me, is how we become. The next quote we share is by Mahatma Gandhi. It says, be the change you want to see in the world. And then the last quote is by myself, Africa O., there's a difference between constructive criticism and plain old criticism. And that distinction makes a lot of a difference. In fact, in some situations, it can be the thing that staggers your growth or propels it. So for today, our value listener felt that the last quote I just shared resonated with them the most. So first of all, who is this value listener? Well, this value listener Instagram handle is spelled ig o b underscore m o underscore. And at the end that's a double underscore. Their name is Monique Gill. Hi Monique Gill. Thank you so much for being a part of the LiveAfricaO community. If you are listening to this episode today, let me tell you I am so thrilled to share your feedback. Super duper excited! And it looks like Monique Gill is straight out of Atlanta.

**** (00:04:13) - Oh, I love this Monique Gill. I am an Atlanta native as you may already know, so this is really huge coming across someone else from the ATL. Also really quickly. Yeah. Give Monique Gill a look because it looks like girlfriend has a lot going on over there. She's just looking at her bio as an award winning creative producer, audacious founder. I mean, her list is extensive. She is definitely doing some heavy lifting out there. It looks like in the film world, director, creative producer, all the things. Love that for her. And I also love what she share resonated with her the most this month. So she speaks about finding a lot of inspiration in the idea of. You know, landing more fulfilling and rewarding work. And she also felt like this was really what spoke to her when she heard the quote. That I share from myself about criticism, right, and constructive criticism because that journey of finding rewarding work is not easy, but being kind to yourself along the way.

**** (00:05:53) - Is key in is important to her to really find fulfilling and rewarding work. That also offers more financial stability. These things together are key. And let me just say, first of all, thank you so much. Value listener, for that. Very authentic share. I because you just touched on so many things that really resonate with me and probably with so many other listeners. When you mention the challenge, that definitely comes with trying to find those types of things. I just thought about my own journey. I know that it's super important to me to be able to discover, you know, a career that has all of these things together. And. Yes, I do enjoy podcasting. It is a newer space for me and I really enjoy my entire wellness space because it allows me to work with clients that are really on the same journey as myself and others who want to get started on it, and I'm there for all of it. But at the same time, I do also work towards having other opportunities right now.

**** (00:07:35) - You know, we got to keep the lights on. Y'all and I have struggled. If I can be very honest with connecting really the same things that our listener speaks about the fulfilling and rewarding work and, you know, the financial stability to take care of all the things. But also given myself patience along that journey and speaking kindly to myself while on that journey. Right. I think it's all really important. And I think that, yes, I need to hold myself accountable to make sure I'm putting in the work to move the needle forward. But I also need to be aware, right when I'm doing that, to make sure it's constructive criticism. And it's not just plain old criticism. So. So I'm listening. I'm not sure who else this may resonate with, but just hang in there, okay? Because I have heard some positive stories about people finding these different things in a job, and so. I believe it exists. I really do. And that's where I'll leave it. So thank you again, y'all.

**** (00:09:01) - We do this every month. Be sure to send me a message on Instagram. Or you can even send me an email. Go over to Live Africa. Com and just submit the cult that resonates with you the most and why. And I will give you a shout out. All right, so moving on to our last segment of the month, we are going to talk about the coffee shop that has really stood out to me y'all. Oh let's get into this because this coffee shop is one of a kind. And I'm not just hyping it up. I am being completely honest. So let me get a quiet drum roll. To introduce nothing other than great coffee. Brought to you by Portrait Coffee. We are so excited to share with y'all this little gem that I came across. So I don't even know exactly where to start. But this coffee shop is one of a kind. It is located in the historic West end of Atlanta. And let me tell you, there's so much rich history in this neighborhood.

**** (00:10:33) - You're going to have to do a little bit of research to learn more about that, though, because I only have a certain amount of time on this show. So I can not get into the weeds, but it is really good black history in perfect being that we are literally in Black History Month. But you know, over here we like to study black history all year long. So definitely check that out when you can. Um, this coffee shop. Let me tell you, it literally speaks to me for so many reasons. As soon as you walk in, it's giving you a nice sunny, ah, a nice sunny view with it's floor to ceiling windows. It's giving clean, it's given modern. It's also still very cozy. And the coffee oh my goodness I had an Aunt Viv latte. Y'all okay? Look, when I'm creating, I'm already on cloud nine because I am reading and learning about wellness and. That by itself puts a smile on my face. But when I'm doing it while sipping a delicious lot in oh oh wait, I almost forgot to share with y'all.

**** (00:12:00) - My newest, most favorite pastry. Oh, gosh, I'm forgetting the entire name of it. I just recall how delicious it tastes. But it's basically Fig. one, like this delicious cheese croissant type of bread. Oh my goodness. No, no. You know what it's like fig and goat cheese specifically. I think I'm saying that correctly, but it's so good together. And then they warm it up for you. Oh my goodness oh my goodness. You have to go to this coffee shop and try it together. It's so good. Ah, but wait, let me not fail to mention there is beautiful artwork all along the walls of this coffee shop. And guess what? It is beautiful black artwork y'all. Yes, they are paying homage to so many trailblazers in the black community. It is definitely a quick little black history lesson. I love everything about this coffee shop y'all. And little did I know, but this coffee shop educated me on the fact that coffee products originated in Africa. Look it up.

**** (00:13:26) - True story. So there are so many wonderful things I can say about this coffee shop, but y'all know I don't like to give it all away. You gotta go visit for yourself in. Look, don't be deterred. If you pull up and you see a long line because trust hearing it from me, I saw the same in that line goes down very quickly. All right. So let me share a really quick excerpt from my coffee break, which is a portrait coffee shop coffee break, because I'm going to give you a little bit more details about this wonderful coffee shop. Driving through the West End always reminds me of old Atlanta and in some respects the old Africa, not the continent, but myself. For those who don't know, I am an Atlanta native, making me a bit of a unicorn these days with all the transplants around the city. I have nothing against the transplants. They are an integral part of Atlanta as well. However, the natives are the heart. So that is the beginning of the blog post that I wrote on Portrait Coffeeshop.

**** (00:14:49) - Look, I already told you what it looks like. I told you what the drinks are given in the food. I really don't need to share anything else from this blog with you, because I just don't want to spoil your visit. You have to go check it out for yourself. But this is definitely one of my favorite coffee shops to officially escape and go and create. Because y'all know mama needs a break in a need. A very special space to create. Thanks, Portrait Coffee for making that possible. And happy black history, y'all! Thanks again for listening. Don't forget to tune in next month. We'll be starting a new theme in the new month.
