*TIMESTAMPS FEATURED AT THE END*
In this episode Gerry welcomes on former minor league baseball player and social media standout Eric Sim to talk all things baseball, strength training, development progression and the evolution of training in the realm of baseball.
To start, Eric talks about his colorful social media presence and what made him want to become more active in the world of baseball on Twitter. He then goes into his childhood, growing up in South Korea and how baseball brought him from Canada to the United States, as well as what his strength training involved through his early career.
From there, Eric discusses junior college (he is the proclaimed "Juco King,") and how it can go a long way in helping athletes develop before they make their way into a four year institution. From level of competition and building mental toughness, he breaks down why it wouldn't be wise to overlook the degree of difficulty and benefits of the "Juco route."
Gerry and Eric then talk about Eric's journey to Division I baseball, the draft and working all the way up to the Triple A level. Eric addresses the changing landscape of pitching and hitting and as he says best in his words "everyone throws hard as f**k and is really f****'n strong!" To finish, the conversation turns to where things are going with training, development and how you need to adapt or fall behind.
