I remember a day when I felt so depleted I had just come home from work and my aunt had left for the day and my husband was not to home for another two hours, and I was so tired and I just wanted to have some dinner. I had just finished bottle feeding the babies and sat them down in their high chair and proceeded to make myself something fast and easy to eat, because I knew my moments were counted. Before they would want to be held, I spoke to them as I made myself a sandwich and as soon as I sat down, they both started to cry at the same time. Of course, I remember the wailing and how bad I felt and feeling torn and wanting to eat and wanting to hold them both at the same time. There was no way I could hold them both and eat at the same time. Yet I knew that I needed to make time for eating so I can feel a bit more energy, be less grumpy and spend the time I wanted to spend with them both and not feel depleted while doing so. I allowed myself to eat while they both cried for a bit. And guess what happened? They were fine and they are still fine. I wouldn't have been fine if I hadn't taken the five minutes to eat my sandwich. It just took five minutes of caring for myself. That gave me that energy to be my best mom's self for my babies. I want the same for you, hello, and thank you for tuning in today to Self-Care on Pink Heels, the place for every mom to get helpful self-care tips and feel their most beautiful self on this journey. Here are seven self-care tips that you can do under five minutes. Let's dive in. Self-care tip number one pray. The power of prayer is so significant. Spending five minutes of silent prayer, expressing gratitude, talking to God about my worries and fears, and reciting and our Father is oftentimes what helps me regain spiritual strength, mental strength, emotional strength and physical strength.
Speaker 1:Self-care tip number two stretch. Exercise is often seen as an entire 30 plus or so minutes of a chore that a mom may not have time for. But if you think of exercise as back to basics, you can accomplish so much in caring for your body with simple stretching. I was able to get some of that basics from a physical therapist that I saw in my postpartum phase that I continue to do now. But if you don't have access to a physical therapist, there are exercising apps that can help you. Find similar routines that help you accomplish stretching in under five minutes or less.
Speaker 1:Self-care tip number three be intentional about expressing love and kindness each day. Be it by hugging a loved one that day or writing a short thank you note to a family member is a way to make you connect with others. Being kind and loving is surely to produce happiness for you each day. Self-care tip number four spend a money minute checking in on your financial health. When you are so busy, it is easy to lose track of your spending, and if you have goals to achieve in the financial aspect of your life, then make sure to check in on yourself so you can stay on track with your goals.
Speaker 1:Self-care tip number five drink water. It is no secret that our bodies are mostly made out of water, and it is often the very first thing we forget to do for ourselves. So fill up your water bottle and stay hydrated throughout your day today. Self-care tip number six learn something new. Read a lifestyle blog post, listen to a TED talk or listen to this podcast Of course I am biased and fill your mind with positivity and personal growth. Stay creative and keep your mental health in balance by feeding it new things that bring you joy.
Speaker 1:Self-care tip number seven lastly, prepare yourself a cup of veggies with your favorite dip. It is a great way to care for your physical health and it is so simple to do. Now remember my fellow mom. This is just a short list of what I have done to add self-care to my life, and under five minutes or less there are so many things you can do out there. If you are interested in forming your own ritual around some of these main self-care practices, make sure you grab my free self-care ritual checklist in the link in the show notes below and start incorporating self-care into your life. The easy way Now for your fashion self-care tip of the week get ready for fall and schedule your new fall haircut this week.
