Embracing Life's Imperfections: Growth Through Transition & Eclipse Season | Solo Pod

Hannah Season 1 Episode 28

As I settled into my new office, back pain struck again, right after the excitement and exhaustion of a recent move. But rather than letting it bring me down, I found gratitude in the chaos, embracing the profound lessons hidden within life's unpredictabilities. This episode invites you into an open-hearted conversation where I share candid reflections on personal transitions and the surprising ways health issues can reflect deeper emotional or lifestyle factors. Together, we’ll explore how surrendering to life's imperfections can lead to peace and happiness, even when challenges arise.

Guided by my mother's wisdom, we unravel the art of transforming challenges into growth opportunities. Instead of asking, "Why is this happening to me?" we consider, "How is this happening for me?" to shift focus from problems to personal development. Aligning with the natural rhythms of seasons and menstrual cycles, I introduce my group mentorship program, "SYNC," which is designed to harmonize these cycles for optimal growth. As eclipse season brings transformative energy, I express my excitement about this journey and the joy of connecting with a supportive community. Join us as we navigate these transitions and prepare to embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.

Speaker 1:

Hello, my loves. So welcome to my new office. Not that you can see it, but on all of my solo podcast episodes I always share, I always imagine, these podcast episode recordings of you and me just sitting in my office having a conversation and just chatting about life or whatever topic I choose to talk about. So I just wanted to welcome you to my new office. We'll get into that later, but, um, this is an interesting podcast recording, I must say, because I have not planned, um, pretty much anything that I want to speak on, except I do have one topic in mind, um, but I just figured I would hit record and see what comes out, honestly, which most of the time I don't have like notes, but I'll have like bullet points, um, but this, at the time of recording this, we're in the middle of eclipse season. Um, pretty much everyone I know, all of my clients, everyone that I'm talking to, I mean people are either going through some shit or they're going through quite the transition phase and season in their life, me included, and so I wanted to come on and talk about transitions and some myths, about some like ideas that we have about transitions and my personal perspective of transitions, and just to give you a little bit of backstory. That's funny because I'm going to be talking about my back and I just said backstory. Um, I want to preface this whole conversation with when we, when I am speaking about going through a hard time, going through like the literal shit please don't think that that's just coming from a naive place or an ungrounded place Um, so at the time of recording this, I just finished moving and literally the day after I finished moving all of my stuff in my new house, I bend over in the morning to pick something up and my back just freaks out.

Speaker 1:

And if you've followed me for a while, you know that I have a history of back. I have a history of back. There's been a lot going on. When I was in college, I actually hurt my back really badly working out at the gym and ever since, every once in a while, she just acts up. And I'm kind of at this place in my life where, although I would like to figure it out and although I'm taking steps to figure it out and I actively, continuously take steps to strengthen my core and loosen my glute muscles and strengthen the glute muscles and the hamstrings, and I've done a lot of research on lower back issues and I'm someone that's very active. I walk at least twice a day. It just keeps coming up, and so I've kind of arrived at this place of surrender and part of what I want to talk about today stems from that, and I want to talk about surrender and um and letting go. But anyway, to finish the first thought I want to just preface this whole conversation with.

Speaker 1:

I've gone through a lot of shit the past couple of years, and so when I say things that I'm going to say on this podcast episode, I don't want you to take it as like, oh well, her life's perfect. Of course she can say that, and I hope that you don't think that my life's perfect. I hope that I don't portray myself that way. But this is a really vulnerable share and this is a really. This is coming from a place of recording this in pain. I'm sitting at my desk chair, but it's not comfortable. It's not comfortable Like physically, um, mentally I feel I feel great. So let's talk about transitions, let's talk about, let's talk about this feeling great, and I posted on my story the other day about my back situation and the funny thing about this situation this time, this episode I guess we can call it is.

Speaker 1:

I feel great in my life and that's not to say that everything is perfect, because it certainly is not but this move has been a really great, great choice for me and a really great move. Actually, how we found this house is wild. Like I figured out, I found out that I had to move very abruptly and I found the house that I'm currently sitting in right now. I found it, like I don't know, the day after I found out that I had to move. We toured the house maybe two days after that, signed the lease three days after that and then moved in, and so literally all of this happened in the past two weeks, maybe two and a half weeks, um, because we had to move in August for, um, august October 1st. So just finding this place was very easeful. And, uh, I've been hearing a lot about the business coach and somatic coach that I've been working with lately, and so my business is doing well.

Speaker 1:

I'm obsessed with my podcast. I love my podcast guests and everyone that I'm able to chat with. Relationships are strong and healthy. I feel strong and healthy and life, life is truly content right now. That's the word that keeps coming to mind. It's very busy, but I love it. Like life is, I'm just very content right now.

Speaker 1:

And so the funny thing is, with my back acting up, is, you know, like we always I always think I was always raised with like nothing happens by coincidence, right. So, like health issues are not just out of the blue and it could be a combination of things. It could be what you're eating, what you're doing for movement, what your relationships are like. If you're into more of the Eastern philosophy of medicine we can get into. You know, like emotions are stored in the hip or the hips, or you know, you might find this disease if you continually suppress this situation, whatever it is, continually suppress this situation, whatever it is. So, um, there's always that piece of me in the back of my mind that is like, hmm, what's going on that I'm not paying attention to when my back acts up, and sometimes we can figure it out, and sometimes we're. We're either not meant to know right now or we just can't figure it out, and I used to be someone that probably hit their head over the wall or whatever that saying is Hit their head against the wall, bang their head against the wall often and trying to figure it out and I've really released and surrendered trying to figure it out and I've I've really released and surrendered trying to figure it out and there's a lot of, there's a lot, there's a lot of surrender that comes there and there's a lot of peace that comes with that.

Speaker 1:

And part of why I wanted to come on and record this podcast episode is because I know so many people that are just going through it right now. I know more people in my life in this moment, in this season, that are being diagnosed with really serious health concerns. I know a lot of people that are having relationship strains. I know a lot of people that just keep saying like I'm just going through it, like this is just a heavy season for me and maybe it has to do with the eclipse, maybe it has to do with the transition from summer into fall. I have a huge hypothesis because if you listen to my any of my work, I do a lot of cycle alignment work. So I have a huge hypothesis that part of why it's heavy is because we're transitioning from summer energy to fall.

Speaker 1:

Or another way to say that is, we're transitioning from the full moon energy into the waning moon energy and having this transition of a downtick of energy or moving from our ovulation phase into our luteal phase. And again, if you've listened to any of my work, I've always said I've struggled with the luteal phase because we live in, like, societally, we live in summer energy all the time. We want to be hyperproductive. We want to be hyperproductive, we want to be very outgoing and sociable and being out in the world and we want to be really productive and constantly achieving peak performance. It's ovulation phases when our hormones as women are at their peak and um that, this phase is the most celebrated phase because business-wise, corporation-wise, they want us to be uber productive all of the time and be functioning at 100% all of the time.

Speaker 1:

And when we, as women, transition from the ovulation phase into the luteal phase, we can hit this struggle, this wall, because our hormone levels are actually decreasing, so our energy levels are decreasing, our productivity is decreasing or maybe saying the same, but coming at a lot more force and a lot more pushing, instead of just kind of effortlessly flowing out of us. And so maybe you're just going through it because of this transition, like, maybe, maybe there's not nothing outwardly that is hitting you. Like Lord, I pray that you are in good health. Listening to this, I pray good health over you and your family, because I, I, uh, there's so many people that are that are hurting right now. But if you are just going through it, for whatever reason, whatever your version of going through, it means maybe this is, maybe this is just a transition phase and and maybe it yourself that grace the other part of transitions, whether they are very heavy transitions or maybe it's a happy transition. Maybe you just moved, like me, or maybe you just got into a new relationship or started a new job or I don't know, painted your house, got a new animal.

Speaker 1:

Oftentimes, when, when we think of happy, quote-unquote transitions, we think that we should be happy all the time in the entire situation, right Like when we think when something good happens in our lives having a baby, getting married, moving into a new house with your partner, all of these really supposedly, supposedly, supposedly happy times we meet ourselves with such judgment and shame and guilt when we feel simultaneously a little bit sad, when we feel grief, when we feel frustration or anger or we feel that friction. And here's the thing about transitions, here's the thing about life geez, just life in general that it's constantly a duality. When we think about like the yin and the yang symbol, this is definitely my Libra rising coming out. This is where I see my Libra rising coming out. In. This is where I see my Libra rising coming out.

Speaker 1:

In astrology is the scales, is the balance, but there's a duality. There can be and here's my greatest invitation to you throughout this podcast episode if you take nothing else out of this is there can be simultaneously good and bad. There can be happy and sad. You are allowed to feel productive and a little bit drained. You're allowed to feel elated with this new transition in your life and also experience and allow yourself to move through the grief of letting go. If we think of what was it? Last full moon was the last full moon in Pisces, I can't quite remember. But if we think of just Pisces energy, that death and rebirth cycle, letting go to then call in the new. And when we're calling in the new, we really just want to focus on the happy. We want to feel that elation all the time and that ecstasy all the time, but we never talk about the letting go, the death cycle, and in every transition, no matter where we are, we always have the letting go and the calling in, because that's literally like the definition of a transition not the Webster's dictionary definition of transition, but that literally is what a transition is it's a death into a rebirth. And so if you're feeling oh jeez, if you're feeling overwhelmed, if you've been meeting yourself with a lot of judgment and shame and criticism, you're going to be in a lot of trouble, here's your invitation. What if you allowed some surrender? What if you allowed in some compassion and grace? And that's truly like.

Speaker 1:

Let me be clear when I am speaking, be clear when I am speaking, 95% of the time I'm speaking to myself. When I record a solo podcast episode, like I do imagine that we're sitting next to each other on a couch right now just chatting, but I'm also speaking to myself and outwardly processing because with this back situation, it's not fun. It's not fun to be in pain, to be in physical pain, especially when you feel like there's so much to do, so much unpacking and so much that I want to do. I am an active person, so not being able to physically walk is excruciating, but we can still let in surrender and what that is is it's a shift in our mindset, it's allowing more space. I think is what we're doing. We're creating space for that duality, for that balance, to come in, and it's not easy. It's not easy for so many reasons. One of the reasons is because we don't like to talk about when we're in pain physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally. We don't like to talk about the struggle and, honestly, there's a little bit of balance to be had there too, right, like we don't want to consistently focus on the problem and the struggle. I think that there's a time and a place right, so like you don't need to be focusing on it all the time, but acknowledging it, witnessing it, allowing it to come up and then letting that emotion move through you in a safe space. So, whether that's like with a mentor or a coach or a therapist, letting that emotion move through you and then allowing the surrender. And then allowing the surrender like lifting it up, giving it up.

Speaker 1:

One of the most beautiful things that my mom has gifted me is growing up. Whenever we went through like a mistake maybe, like when I, whenever I went through something like maybe I failed a test, or I broke up with a boyfriend, or, uh, I I disobeyed, like I, like you know, disobeyed her or disobeyed a different parent, or whatever, she would always ask what did you learn from this situation? What did you learn? And so that's something that I carry with me all the time. Whatever you're going through right now and please let me reiterate, it might not be easy to ask this question and you might not have an answer right away what am I learning? What am I learning from this situation? Another one of my favorite ways to word this. I don't remember who I got this from originally, but, um, I know Gina DeVee the audacity of the audacity of being queen or something.

Speaker 1:

It's a book. Um, she, she talks about this, but how is this happening for me? Rather, why is this happening to me? So, what are you learning? Or how is this happening for me? Whatever you're going through, how is this happening for me? How is this serving me?

Speaker 1:

That is a mindset shift to get you out of the problem loop focusing on the problem, focusing on the shit, focusing on the hardship. How is this serving me? How is this happening for me and what am I learning from this situation? Because there's always something to learn, right, it might be learning what we don't want to do, what doesn't work, what we don't want to call more in of our lives. It might be learning. This doesn't work. It might be learning okay, I figured out how to make this work better in my life but we always learn something. And when we're able to take the perspective, even like let me give an example again of my back because that's the most relevant thing Like there are little ways that this is definitely happening for me. And then I have pondered and meditated over, but in general, like yeah, this is not a fun situation, but focusing on this is happening for me. If we can't answer, how is this happening for me Using the affirmation that this is happening for me, this is serving me, I am learning. That's a mindset shift. That's huge. I don't know if that's huge to you, but that's huge for me.

Speaker 1:

So, whatever transition phase, whatever transition stage you find yourself moving through right now, in this eclipse season, in this transition from summer to fall, there's your homework, there's your question how is this happening for me? Why is this happening for me and what am I learning? I'm wishing you the most ease and the most learning, the ability to learn the most out of this whole season and, if you're curious, of learning more about the seasons, because we all go through all four seasons, whether they're actually like the physical seasons or an inner season. So, like, four of our inner seasons is our menstrual cycle, is the four phases of our menstrual cycle. We also go through an inner winter, inner fall, inner spring, inner summer in our business, in our relationships, in our life, in everything, and that could align with the actual season outside or it could not. Like right now, in my business, I'm definitely going through an inner spring, where my business is growing and flourishing, even though we're moving into fall. I hope that makes sense. So if you're curious, if you're curious to learn more about these seasons, if you're curious to learn more about our menstrual cycle and how to align with your menstrual cycle and align with the seasons, the four seasons, the four phases of the moon, the four main phases of the moon.

Speaker 1:

I have this group mentorship container and we're currently in a beta launch, so we have three more spots available. I'm only accepting five people in this beta launch and you get, of course, with the beta launch, you get a really beautiful discount and you also get lifetime access to this group mentorship program. It's called sync and it's all about aligning with your menstrual cycle, with this, with the seasons, to achieve peak performance and silence that inner critic. If you find yourself very critical and shameful, maybe this program might speak to you. So I'm going to link it in the show notes down below. You can click on the website and just read about it.

Speaker 1:

My invitation always with any program that I offer or anything that I offer, is pay attention to how you feel, what sensations are bodily showing up for you when you are reading any program, any workshop, any offer that you're reading whether it's mine or someone else's and notice how your body is responding. Are you feeling excited? Does your energy increase? Are you feeling this opening? Are you feeling this kind of tug forward? And if you are, as you're reading through this website, reach out, schedule a connection, call we can chat. It's always pressure free.

Speaker 1:

I am not here to gain as many people as I can in this program. It's actually cultivated to be a very intimate experience. So we're not going to have a lot of people. I am much more a quality over quantity person and that is reflected in this group mentorship experience. So if it speaks to you, man, it is filled with deep dives on each of the four phases of our menstrual cycle, the four phases of the moon. It comes with meditations and self-care rituals for each phase. It comes with affirmations for each human design type.

Speaker 1:

So we're going to talk about a little bit about human design, because you know I'm obsessed with it. So how can I create any program and not talk about human design? But also how our human design can interweave with our menstrual cycle, how we can use our human design in alignment with whatever phase we're going through in our menstrual cycle. It comes with so many bonuses. It comes with weekly calls, weekly support calls, workshops. I mean this is like jam-packed with goodness. Jam-packed with goodness and it's truly because it makes such a difference in my life. Human design, cycle alignment and somatic breathwork are game changers in my life and that's in my human design is to share what has changed my life, share the darkness that I've went through and how I've come out the other side, what I have learned, the research that I've acquired, that I've gone through, the trainings that I've gone through, and share that with my community. So that is a culmination of sync.

Speaker 1:

So I hope that it speaks to you. I would love to have you. I'm so excited for all of the women that I am calling in. I can feel you palpably. Oh man, all right, my love, I will see you soon. This was a shorty, but I hope that you got some nuggets from it and I hope that you're able to move through the rest of this eclipse season with grace and ease and joy. I will see you soon, my friend. Be well.
